God Created Women In Special Ways

Women have many special qualities about them that make them the beautiful creation that God made them to be. But the quality that stands out the most is the power to influence. The woman is the key to a happy and peaceful home. If the woman of the home is not happy or at peace, neither is the home front. She can influence her husband in good ways just by a shift in attitude and thinking. A mother influences her children every single day by what she does with her own life and how she treats her husband.

A woman’s power to influence can be used in many great and wonderful ways or it can be used to be downright destructive. Take a moment to reflect upon this. How did sin come upon the world? Through Eve, right? She ate of the forbidden fruit. Then what happened? She influenced her husband to eat of it too. She talked him into it! And he ate. She certainly didn’t have to do much influencing there, did she?

Eve’s power to influence Adam was used in a destructive way. She didn’t have her faith and trust in God. She didn’t believe with her heart and soul. Instead she allowed her selfish desire to get in the way of her faith and she ate from the forbidden fruit. She turned her back on what God had told her and did her own thing instead. Not only that, but she influenced her husband to be destructive with her.

Women are remarkable souls with quite a bit of influence in this world, which can be used for the good of all. Children need the feminine influence of their mother and they need their mother and dad to get along well and produce a fruitful and joyous life together. Women can do mighty things with their intuitive minds; such as understand people, cultures and the world around them with wisdom. Women seem to grasp spirituality with ease but on the other hand can also be spoiled rotten and selfish at the drop of a hat.

The way a woman influences others is dependent on what she accepts as truth. A woman can let her belief in God influence her, or she can allow her selfish desires to influence her like Eve did.

Which is it going to be? Who influences you?

In her home the woman is the key to peace and happiness. Her influence wields the greatest amount of power on how that home is going to be managed. Not that the husband doesn’t have influence in the home, because he certainly does, but for this article I’m only referring to the woman of the home. If she is influenced by the life-giving power of Christ she will most likely radiate her joyful spirit on the rest of the household.

The bottom line is where does she get her influence? What does she read? Who does she regard highly? Where does she get her answers to life’s difficulties and decision-making? What does she believe? Where does her faith and trust come from? These questions will have an effect on what kind of influence she is as a wife and mother.

Some women tend to believe lies that reinforce their own selfish personal beliefs. Today, more than ever, women need to be careful about the input they allow to form their beliefs. This life is totally bombarded with unwholesome values and beliefs that are totally opposed to what the Bible says. Be careful about what you allow to form your ideas and opinions.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised. Amen. (Romans 1:25 NIV)

God created all women in His special ways.

Appreciating Our Past

It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more healing to look at ourselves and our past in the light of experience, acceptance, and growth.

Our past is a series of lessons that advance us to higher levels of living and loving. The relationships we entered, stayed in, or ended taught us necessary lessons.

Some of us have emerged from the most painful circumstances with strong insights about who we are and what we want. Our mistakes? Necessary. Our frustrations, failures, and sometimes stumbling attempts at growth and progress? Necessary too. Each step of the way, we learned. We went through exactly the experiences we need to, to become who we are today. Each step of the way, we progressed. Is our past a mistake? No. The only mistake we can make is mistaking that for the truth.

Today, God, help me let go of negative thoughts I may be harboring about my past circumstances or relationships. I can accept, with gratitude, all that has brought me to today.

A Lesson in Life

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.

If someone hurts you, betrays you , or breaks you heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

TEMPLE

The place where your hurts and pains are cured is called Kshethram-temple. Empowering the mind is really attained by the visits and offerings at the temple.

The temple is the symbolic embodiment of the human body. Thus says Bhagavath Geetha: Idam sareeram thu kountheya kshethram ithyabhidheeyathe.

Being the body of the deity, from the sanctum sanctorum to the tower gate of the temple are symbolised by the human body like this.

Sreekovil- the head
Courtyard inside- the face
The front stage- the neck
The four walltemple- the arms
The outer courtyard- the stomach
Outer fencingwalls- the legs
The towergate- the feet

Self Defence

We live in unsafe times. Can your daughter defend herself against an attack?

Self Defence

Have you ever thought of enrolling your daughter in a self-defence class? Not only is it great exercise, but this knowledge may also save her life some day. The percentage of women in India who can defend themselves in case of an attack is dismally small, although crime against women is constantly on the rise. Your daughter doesn't need to be a karate champion to ward off an attacker; even a few basic moves can help. Remember, assailants are rarely trained to fight. They are simply relying on the belief that women are weaker than they are by virtue of their sex. A few smart moves can give your daughter an advantage.

Pepper Spray

Invest in a bottle of pepper spray, and let your daughter carry it around in her bag. The only problem is that the spray is bulky, and it may not fit into smaller evening bags. As a result, she may not have it on her at the time she needs it the most. However, encourage her to carry it around as far as possible. Spraying an assailant with pepper spray renders him helpless for at least a couple of minutes, during which time your daughter can make a quick getaway.

Cell Phone

Give your daughter a cell phone. Don't think that by doing so you may be spoiling her. Instead, realise that when your daughter has a cell phone, it will always be easy for you to track her down. If she is on the way back from somewhere and her car gets stranded in the dark, she can lock the doors and call you, while she waits inside. Help will always be just a phone call away.

Intuition

Tell your daughter to always follow her intuition. There may often be times when your daughter feels a slight apprehension when speaking to someone, but she ignores the feeling because she doesn't want to appear rude. If you have to instil one thought in your daughter, let it be this: It's better to be rude than raped or dead. If someone she is speaking to makes her feel even a little uncomfortable, tell her that she should feel free to simply excuse herself and walk away.

Main Door

She should never open the door to a stranger. When delivery boys come home, under no circumstances should she let them in, or leave the door open when going to get change. She must always, always shut the door, even if it seems rude.

One of the smartest things you can do is to have a double door - so you need never open the second door to someone you don't know. If it is the postman, delivery boy or anyone else, your daughter can just open the inner door and accept any packages through the openings in the second door. Let the second door have large enough openings for packages to get through, and so your child can have a conversation through the grills without feeling compelled to open the door.

Women's Rights

Woman is in no way inferior to her counterpart, man.

A major civilization transformation has taken place throughout the 20th century: the evolving empowerment of women together with the recognition of women's rights as human rights. 8th of March is universally acknowledged as International Women's Day which means that the woman of today has come of age and wants to lead a dignified life of equality with man. The slogan raised today by the women of the world is: "Equality, Dignity and Self-Respect is what we want". This slogan is indicative of the new awareness among women the world over. Modern women have raised their voices against the male dominated and feudalistic society.

Level of consciousness, emergence of successive generations of women at the forefront of knowledge, growing numbers of women with enough education to investigate the conditions, aspirations and perspectives among the poor - all this was an impulsion to react to the need for change in societal patterns. Other factors also contributed to this process: the growth of women studies in many universities throughout the world supplemented by burgeoning networks of the cross fertilization of ideas, approaches, tactics and strategies. Added to these was the active role played by women in the struggle for democracy against oppressive regimes in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

The role of women as a separate issue of more than merely token significance entered international debate at the first UN Conference on Population and Development, held in Bucharest (Romania) in 1974. The United Nations Conferences on women and other development and socio-economic issues, held since 1975, have helped to heighten the visibility of the role, the plight and the potential of women on the international scene. To quote United Nations Development Program (UNDP's) Human Development Report "human development is impossible without gender equality".

Woman is in no way inferior to her counterpart, man. From time immemorial, woman represents history in all its grace and distress in terms of time and space, social ups and down, political subjugation and freedom. In religion, social intercourse, education, literature, art and culture, her status was never in doubt.

As a significant measure towards initiating women's empowerment, equal-pay legislation should be adopted and expanded in all countries so as to incorporate the principle of equal pay for work of equal value. This would allow for a re-evaluation of women's professional and 'pink-collar' occupations, with increases in both pay and status. Affirmative-action measures might include the provision of day-care centres, flexible working hours, women's quotas in retirement, promotion, and retraining; and outlawing and prosecuting sexual harassment in the work place.

Labour laws need also to be expanded to provide better conditions, benefits and job security for domestic and agricultural workers, part-time, temporary, and miscellaneous workers in the home, and employees in export-processing zones. More research should be conducted on the contribution of women's unpaid work to family and national economies - including work in subsistence agriculture, livestock husbandry, domestic work, child-care, and care for the elderly, the disabled, and this time. This analysis should incorporate time-use data, and should be used in the design of future policy. All new development initiatives and economic and social planning should be subject to a 'gender audit' to assess their effects on women's quality of life as well as on the inequalities persisting between men and women.

The majority of the world's women are poor citizens of the poor countries; they are 'deprived' and 'backward'. About 40% of females worldwide are children under the age of 15. The World Health Report 1995 highlighted the grim prospects facing a baby girl born in one of the least developed countries, where one-sixth of all births occur annually. Equity demands that the conditions of such deprived infants and children be improved without delay.

There is a need to formulate a comprehensive global action plan for girls and adolescent females. It will redress many of the prevalent injustices suffered by women.

The greatest need of the hour is to change the social attitude to women. Women's empowerment means a lot, but the ultimate goal of the equalization of man and woman would materialize only when her complimentary role is recognized by the society.

Power of Red Tomato

Power of Red Tomato

Eating a balanced diet containing vegetables and fruits is considered the best way of ensuring good health. Vegetables are not just tasty and nutritious, but they also enhance the immune system of our body. One vegetable which most of use extensively, but do not pay much attention to is the tomato.

Anti-Cancer Properties

This vegetable has antioxidants and hence is a great aid in keeping cancer at bay. Tomatoes contain a pigment called Lycopene, which reduces the risk of cancer. The redder the tomato, the more is the Lycopene in it. The good news is that cooking does not destroy this pigment. Green or yellow tomatoes do not contain this pigment. Lycopene is also useful in reducing high blood pressure, a major risk factor for coronary heart diseases and strokes.

Besides this, tomatoes have high nutritive value. It contains vitamin A, C and potassium. Fat-soluble vitamin A is involved in the formation and maintenance of healthy skin, hair and mucous membranes. It also helps in good and clear vision and is necessary for proper growth of bones and tooth development.

Soup it, Gravy it or Juice it

You can include tomatoes in your diet in various ways:

  • Tomato soup for one. Tomato soup taken without butter is considered to be an excellent food for people who are on a weight-reduction diet.

  • Add tomatoes in your green salads.

  • While making a sandwich, don't forget to add tomato slices.

  • Make vegetables in a tomato gravy.

  • Make your snacks tasty by topping it with tomato ketchup (home-made to ensure that there are no preservatives, added artificial flavours or colours in it).

  • A glass of plain, fresh tomato juice with a pinch of salt or sugar had in the morning, serves as an excellent coolant for your body.
  • Vitamin C in the tomatoes can also rejuvenate a dull skin. A mixture of tomato juice and rose water applied daily to on an oily face can work wonders. It acts as a natural astringent. Not many may know, but tomatoes are good to get rid of dandruff.

    Pulp as Scalp Conditioner

Here is a tomato treatment for dandruff-free, soft and silky hair:

    Dandruff treatment

  • Massage your head with warm coconut oil.

  • Steam the scalp and hair with a hot water towel wrapped around the head. Do this three to four times. Leave the towel for 3-4 minutes each time, till it cools off.

  • Boil tomatoes and remove its skin.

  • Mash the tomato and apply the pulp only to the scalp.

  • Leave it for half an hour and then shampoo your hair.
  • Do this once a week, and repeat again if dandruff persists. Tomato also acts as a conditioner and brings shine to lusterless hair.

    Good Health Advice..please do read

This is e-mail received from a person working in a Software Company

Dear colleagues, I am working in Blore Software City .... I wanted to share an incident of my life with you, hoping that it may be an eye opener to you so that you can live more years.
On 27th October afternoon, I had severe heart attack symptom and I was rushed to the hospital.
After reaching to the hospital, the doctors prescribed a test called angiogram. This test is basically to identify blood flow of heart arteries. When they finished the test they found a 94% block in the main artery, please see the image below with red circle.
    image00121.jpg
At this point, I wanted to share my living style, which has caused this block in my heart arteries. Please see the below points of my life style, if any of these points are part of your life style then you are at risk, please change yourselves.
    1. I was not doing any physical exercise for more than 10 years , not even walking 30 minutes a day for years.

    2.
My food timings are 11:00 AM Breakfast or no Breakfast, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Lunch and dinner at 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

    3.
Sleeping in very odd timings, going to bed between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Waking up at between 9:00 AM and 10:30AM ....... Some times spending sleepless nights.

    4.
I used to eat heavily because of long gaps between lunch and dinner and I used to make sure that Non-Veg is available most of the time, there were times when I did survey on city hotels to find delicious Non-Veg dishes. I was never interested in vegetable and healthier food.

    5.
Above all I was chain smoker from years.

    6.
My father passed away due to heart problems, and the doctors say the heart problems are usually genetic.

Once they identified the major block they have done immediately a procedure called angioplasty along with 2 Stints, mean they will insert a foreign body into the heart arteries and open the blocked area of arteries. Please see the below image after the procedure.
    image00215.jpg
I learnt from the doctors that 60% people will die before reaching the hospital,20% people will die in the process of recovering from heart attack and only 20% will survive . In my case, I was very lucky to be part of the last 20%.

    Doctors instructions:

    1..
Need to have physical exercise for minimum of 45 minutes daily.
    2. Eat your food at perfect timings, like how you eat during your school days. Eat in small quantities more times and have lot of vegetables and boiled food, try to avoid fry items and oily food. Fish is good than other non-vegetarian food.
    3. Sleep for 8 hours a day, this count should complete before sun rising.
    4. Stop smoking.
    5. Genetic problems, we cannot avoid but we can get away from it by having regular checkups.
    6. Find a way to get relived from the stress (Yoga, Meditation etc).
So I urge you all to please avoid getting into this situation, it is in your hands to turn the situation up side down, by just planning / changing your life style, by following simple points above.

5 Tips to help you eat healthy and stay on budget

Here are 5 simple tips to help you eat healthy on a budget.

    1. Stay In Season - If you want to buy fresh fruit and vegetables out of season, expect to pay top dollar. These items either have to be grown in greenhouses or shipped from halfway around the world.

    2. Shop Local - Visit a local farmer's market, you'll be surprised at how much you'll learn about your food and how far your dollar will go. If you have to leave the city, make a family trip of it.

    3. Cut back on meat - Top quality meat that is pasture-raised and antibiotic free is going to cost more than the discount priced hormone saturated frankenmeat at your local grocery store. Buy a food scale and monitor just how much meat you and your family are eating. The USDA recommends the average person eat 5 1/2 ounces of protein per day. Measure your intake so you can stay healthy without eating excessive amounts of meat products.

    4. Pinch pennies! - Clip coupons, watch for sales, and don't ignore the fancy health stores- they have sales too!

    5. Inconvenient items - Stay away from convenience items. Sure they're quick and easy, but they also cost extra. Instead, buy whole food ingredients and make your own meals.

There you have it, 5 sensible tips to eat healthy on a budget. Funny, when I look at that list I see the common sense tips our parents and grandparents used every time they went to the grocery store. Nowadays we lack so much common sense when it comes to our food that we have to re-educate ourselves as adults to do basic things like shop for food.

How to get rid of ACNE (PIMPLES)???

ACNE (PIMPLES) Acne is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. What is acne and why do we get them. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. Your skin breaks out because of a hormone called testosterone. Both men and women have testosterone in their systems. In fact, did you know that in order to make testosterone, boys bodies have to make female hormones first? If you have acne, you haven't got abnormal levels of testosterone. You've got skin that reacts abnormally to this hormone. You start producing testosterone around the time you start sprouting body hair. Testosterone tells glands in your skin, called sebaceous glands, to produce oily stuff called sebum. To add to the problem the inside of the tubes that hold each hair become gummy and get partially blocked - giving you blackheads. Put together if sebum blocks the tubes --- you have big acne.

So go to your pharmacist or doctor to get your acne treated. Here are a few tips that will help you know how to treat acne at home.

    1. If you have red angry looking acne, don't touch it. If you squeeze now, all you'll do is force the contents deeper into the skin that will make matters worst. And all you'll end up with is redder, angrier acne than you had before. Don't do it.

    2. If you have a yellow custard top? Go for it. These beauties CAN be squeezed but there's an art to it. Here's how. Wash your hands thoroughly to avoid trouble and infection. Put a tissue over your finger. Why? Because you want the contents of the spot on the tissue, not splattered all over the mirror. Using the side of your thumb and the end of your finger, very gently start to squeeze. Don't whatever you do, use your nails as this will damage your skin. Stop when you're applying a lot of pressure and nothing is happening and you see clear fluid, rather than yellow grotty stuff and the spot begins to bleed. When you've finished dab it with antiseptic. Once the custard bit is out, the spot will heal more quickly than an unsqueezed yellow top would, providing that you now leave it well alone. Now wash your hands again.

    3. Whiteheads and blackheads. If acne is left untreated they may cause this problem. Here the rule is if they're black, squeeze but if they're small, white raised lumps leave them alone. All that stuff about clean hands, tissues and stopping if nothing is happening or you see blood, apply here too.

Tips for acne treatment 1. DON'T TRY TO WASH IT AWAY
Acne isn't caused by dirt. In fact people with oily skin have cleaner skin than average because they wash it more often. But it's a fact that washing too much can make acne worse because it makes the skin dry and sore. So, wash no more than twice a day, using mild soap and water. If you have patches of dry skin, don't worry about putting moisturizer on. It won't make your acne worse. If you're still concerned, use an oil free moisturizer.

    2. DON'T NUKE 'EM
There are lots of over the counter creams, gels, lotions and potions. Most contain a powerful bleaching agent called benzoyl peroxide. You'll find the strength written on the label. You might be tempted to go straight for the highest sort, working on the 'let's nuke 'em principle. The likely result is that you'll irritate your skin like mad. It may also go all dry and scaly on you. But if you still are willing to bleach then use the mild one.

    3. MAKE A DATE - THE TWO MONTH RULE
If you have been using over the counter remedies for two months and there is no real improvement in your spots, this is the moment to go and make an appointment with your doc.

    4. YOUR DOCTOR - THE TWO MONTH RULE
The thing you are most likely to be given by the doctor is a prescription for antibiotics. These will either be topical (which means something you put on your skin) or tablets you have to take every day. Whatever treatment your doctor or pharmacist recommends, follow the instructions carefully and keep using for at least two months. There should be a noticeable improvement by this time. If not, go back to discuss other possible treatments Antibiotics are perfectly safe to take. You should take them for at least two months and then go back to your doc. If they seem to be working, he will probably tell you to keep taking them and give you some more. If they aren't doing their stuff, don't despair - he has loads of other spot busters in his black bag.

    5. YOU ARE NOT AN ALIEN - BUT JUST BE PATIENT
Hundreds of thousands of teenagers seek help for acne. You are not alone. You are not an alien. And if people really care about you, they don't even notice your acne, however bad you think they are. But you will need to be patient. Most treatments take time to work. At least two months. And some treatments, like antibiotics will work well but may have to be taken for months, or even years.

    6. THE MONTHLY CURSE... OR EXAMS
Acne does tend to get worse just before a period. It's because there is a surge in hormone levels at this time. But boys don't get away lightly either. Being hot and sweaty (particularly after sports like football) makes acne worse. And for everyone, stress - particularly at exam times - is a cue for a mega breakout. This is normal - and of course, even more reason for feeling stressed. Go chill. They'll get better - promise.

    7. WATCH WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR SKIN AND HAIR
Some beauty products are big no-nos. These include pomades and defrizzing agents for hair that tend to cause an outcrop of blackheads along the hairline and some of the heavier cosmetics. And be wary of suntan oils. Not all will make you break out, but some may. Try a friend's first before you buy. By the way, the sun might dry up acne and a tan might hide them, but your skin is still vulnerable in the sun and needs protection.

    8. CARRY ON KISSING
You can't catch acne during kissing - go for it!

    9. CARRY ON EATING CHOCOLATE
It's a myth that eating chocolate and fried foods causes acne. However, eating a good diet improves your general well-being and this is reflected in your skin.

Common Questions asked about acne problem Does wearing make up cause acne?
It is not necessary that wearing make up causes acne. Acne is caused because of hormonal imbalance mostly during puberty. But you have to take special care while you apply make up and thereafter if you have acne. Make sure you wash any make up tools, including sponges and brushes as often as possible as these become a breeding ground for bugs which can cause your spots to pop up. Stop wearing make up if you have too many spots and you can resume after you have treated them. Don't forget to clean the make up after you come home and and make sure you cleanse your face properly each night.

Do skin toner and moisturizer cure acne?
One thing that you need to know is acne is not caused by dirt, so no amount of cleaning and toning is going to get rid of them. So for treating acne you must consult your doctor and eat lots of healthy food and drink lots of water. That is the natural way to keep you face spot free.

Is it ok to do facial?
It can be a real treat to have the facial done, as they can be very relaxing and make you feel properly pampered. However, you should be aware that they should not be used to help 'treat' spots, as this can be quite dangerous if the beauty therapist is not trained. Sometimes a beauty therapist will also squeeze out any spots and blackheads that if it's not done properly, may cause a bigger problem than before.

What is the best way to cover up spots?
Foundation is okay to use and may give you more confidence if you've got a hot date, but remember to look for oil-free one. Whatever you use to put on your skin, wash your hands or sponge before applying foundation.

    some suppandi jokes.

I have introduced this new series of "Suppandi Jokes". Suppandi is a very foolish servant, who keeps on getting fired and is always in search of a job. Below are listed some of his very very foolish and funny acts which led to his being fired by a few of his employers.

Joke 1 Once Suppandi's master's book had been torn. Suppandi stitched it back with thread. His master advised him to use super glue to stitch or stick together anything as it gives better results. Then One Day- Master: Suppandi, iron my new and expensive suit as it has to be worn on the wedding tonight.
    That evening-
Master: Suppandi, give me my suit.
    Suppandi: Here it is.

Master: What has happened to it? What do you think you did to it?

Suppandi: The suit had been stitched together with thread, so I removed all the thread and stuck it together with super glue. Doesn't it give a much better result.

Master: S-U-P-P-A-N-D-I!!!! You're fired! Get out.

    Joke 2
One day Suppandi was playing football with his master's son. He had been posted as goalkeeper. Then the opposition charged towards his goal and kicked the ball into the goal from right beside his legs. The masters son was boiling with anger.

Son: Why didn't you stop the ball Suppandi?

Suppandi: Why in the world should I stop it? What is the net in the goal for?

    Joke 3

One day Suppandi and his master were returning from somewhere in the intense heat.

Master: The sun has darkened our skins Suppandi.
    Suppandi agreed.
    The next day-

Master: Suppandi! Get me a bottle of hair dye from the neighbouring store.
    After some time-

Master: Suppandi, didn't you get that bottle.
Suppandi: I went to the shop, but then I had a brilliant idea. Why don't you stand out in the sun. The sun will darken your hair.

    Joke 4
Master: Suppandi, why have you put the spoilt mangoes in the sink. Put them in the dustbin. That's where all spoiled thing's go.
    Suppandi: Yes Master.
Master: After throwing them in the dustbin go and get my son, Vijay from school.

After some time there were noises and screams for help coming from the kitchen.
    The Master rushed in.

Master: Suppandi, what do you think you are doing with my son by putting him into the dustbin?
Suppandi: Master, when I had gone to get him, his teacher told me that he was a spoiled brat. You only told me that all spoilt things go in the dustbin.

    Joke 5
Master: Suppandi, How much time does it take for you to post a letter? And look, you haven't even posted the letter the 1 hour you have been out.
Suppandi: I searched the whole town master. But all the post boxes were locked.

    Joke 6

Suppandi was dialing the phone to his friend.

Master: Suppandi don't talk on the phone for more than 3 minutes.
    After about ten minutes.
Master: Suppandi, I told you not to talk on the phone for so long.
Suppandi: I didn't master. I talked only for three minutes, the rest of the time I have been listening.

    Joke 7

Suppandi's master was a small time business man. He had told Suppandi to always try to earn a profit.

Master: Suppandi, I am expecting a washing machine at Dinkar's Stores. Go and give this Rs.50 note to the shopkeeper and get the machine.

On the way back from the store, a man met Suppandi.

Man: How much did you buy that machine for?

    Suppandi: Rs.50.

Man: I will give you Rs.90 for it.

Suppandi thought that he was making a profit and sold it and reached home.

    Joke 13
Master: Suppandi, why are you holding the receiver of the phone to your ear? Did it ring?

    Joke 14
Master: Suppandi, I cannot find one of these socks, where have you dumped it?
    Suppandi: Here it is master.

Master: If you don't keep things in the proper place, they are bound to get lost. That evening when the master's son came home from school-
Master: How come your Geography teacher has written a note that you are not studying properly? What did you do?
Son: My teacher asked me where Washington was located, and I didn't know where it was.
Suppandi: You would have been able to find it, had you kept it in the right place!

    Joke 15

Suppandi was once interviewed for a job as a prison guard.

    The next day-
Master: Suppandi, pluck all the ripe mangoes from the garden.

    That evening-
Master: You fool, why have you plucked the unripe ones too?
Suppandi: I thought I will pluck them today, instead of waiting for you to tell me to to do it tomorrow.

Suppandi: I was trying to dry my sweat.

    Joke 20
Suppandi's new master was the owner of a departmental store.

Master: Suppandi, before giving the clothes to the customers always open it and check it for defects.

    That evening-
    Customer: One film roll please.

Master: Suppandi, what do you think you are doing? Why have you opened the film roll?

Suppandi: I was checking it for defects, master.

    The Elephant and the Fly

A disciple and his teacher were walking through the forest. The disciple was disturbed by the fact that his mind was in constant unrest.

He asked his teacher: "Why most people's minds are restless, and only a few possess a calm mind? What can one do to still the mind?"

The teacher looked at the disciple, smiled and said:
"I will tell you a story. An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree. A small fly came, flying and buzzing near his ear. The elephant waved it away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away once more".

This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly:
"Why are you so restless and noisy? Why can't you stay for a while in one place?"

The fly answered: "I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My five senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still?"

The elephant stopped eating and said:
"My five senses do not rule my attention. Whatever I do, I get immersed in it. Now that I am eating, I am completely immersed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food and chew it better. I rule and control my attention, and not the other way around."

Upon hearing these words, the disciple's eyes opened wide and a smile appeared on his face. He looked at his teacher and said:
"I understand! If my five senses are in control of my mind and attention, then my mind is in constant unrest. If I am in charge of my five senses and attention, then my mind becomes calm".

"Yes, that's right", answered the teacher, " The mind is restless and goes wherever the attention is. Control your attention, and you control your mind".

    Know Your Rights

    Abusive Behaviour and Change

Serina* has been going out with John* for six years since they were in college. Having a quiet disposition, Serina always let John make the decisions in their relationship, from which film to watch to recently when they were thinking of purchasing a house together. John has always been protective and possessive of Serina's attention. Initially, Serina thought it to be a sign of his commitment. However, it has escalated to an extent where she was not allowed to spend time with her friends without him around, and he would question every male friend she has. He became suspicious of her male colleagues and they have been having more and more arguments because of his excessive jealousy. Not only that, John checks her mobilephone at the end of the day to see the phonecalls and SMSes she has made or received. Sometimes, John became so violently angry that he punched and hit her. However, after every violent incident, he would cry and apologise about his "bad temper", promising to change. Holding on to his promise, Serina gave him chance after chance.

However, she is beginning to feel more and more suffocated by the relationship. Thinking that things might change if they separated for a while, Serina ventured to discuss this with John. He became aggressively livid and began accusing her of having another man. He would not listen when Serina denied it and in fact started to hurl objects around the room at her. Worried for herown safety, Serina left the place and stayed over with a friend. She started to question the state of her relationship with John. Will he change?

Abusive men batter women to have power and control over their intimate partner in order to manipulate, intimidate and rule over them. Men who abuse their partners come from all races, religions, socioeconomic classes, areas of the world, educational levels and occupations. Although they may appear normal and even charming to outsiders, and even to their partners at first, once a relationship is established, they become more and more abusive.

Although there is no guarantee that men who abuse can change, it is possible for them to learn to change how they act, and more positive ways of relating to women. Men who abuse must want to change. If a man really wants to stop the violence against his partner, he must take responsibility for his action. He must stop blaming his partner, alcohol, stress, drug or anything else for provoking him to be violent. Men can also seek counselling and agree to attend several sessions.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE ABUSER IS CHANGING?While a boyfriend or husband may apologise for his actions and vow to change, this can be another phase in manipulating the wife or girlfriend to stay. Consider the following questions before deciding if he has changed or is changing:

Some signs that he is changing:
#Has he completely stopped saying and doing things that frighten you?
#Can you express your anger toward him without being punished for it?
#Can he argue without being abusive or domineering?
#Does it feel safe to bring up topics that you know upset him?
#Can he listen to your opinion and respect it even when he disagrees?
#Does he respect your wishes about sex and physical contact?
#Has he stopped expecting you to do things for him?
#Can you spend time with your friends without being afraid that he will retaliate?
#Can you do other things that are important to you, such as go to school or get a job?
#Are you comfortable with the way he interacts with the children, if you have any?
#Do you feel safe leaving them alone with him?
#Is he being supportive and does he give compliments? Does he listen to what you have to say?
#Does he do his share of housework and childcare?

If the answers to most of the above are positive, then chances are, the abuser really wants to change and is making a difference.

Some signs that he is NOT changing:
#If he is receiving counselling or treatment, does he use it against you in anyway? Does he tell you that he is not as bad as the other abusers there?
#Does he tell you that you are abusive?
#Does he tell you that you owe him another chance?
#Does he say that he can't change without your support?
#Does he try to get you or the children to feel sorry for him?
#Does he instil fear in the children about the future, or finances, or where they'll live etc?
#Do you have to keep after him to attend his counselling sessions?
#Is he making his abuse sound like a lot less than it really is when he talks about it?
#Is he pressuring you to drop any protection order you may have against him?

If the answers to most of them are yes, then he is not changing his abusive behaviour.

Although everyone wants to have a healthy and long-lasting relationship, not all relationships are that way. To help build a healthy relationship, consider:

RespectThis means acting in ways that show you value your partner. You listen to his or her ideas even when they are different from yours and you treat your partner as an equal. This also means not forcing your partner to act in ways that are contrary to their wishes.
UnderstandingBeing understanding means that you think about your partner's feelings and that you care about how your behaviour might affect him or her, and your relationship.
ResponsibilityThis means that your partner can count on you. You take care not to harm your partner by, in example, taking risks that could lead to sexually transmitted diseases.

10 Essential Health Tips (The Basics to Practice Every Day)

"He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything."

    -Arabian Proverb

    Move More

Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that's great when you're up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day: Cha, Cha, Cha…. Then do it!

    Cut Fat

Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise. Thought for the day: Lean, mean, fat-burning machine…. Then be one!

    Quit Smoking

The jury is definitely in on this verdict. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking was harmful to your health, Americans have been reducing their use of tobacco products that kill. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Could it be the Hollywood influence? It seems the stars in every movie of late smoke cigarettes. Beware. Warn your children of the false romance or 'tough guy' stance of Hollywood smokers. Thought for the day: Give up just one cigarette…. the next one.

    Reduce Stress

Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Thought for the day: When seeing red, think pink clouds….then float on them.

    Protect Yourself from Pollution

If you can't live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent. Thought for the day: 'Smoke gets in your eyes'…and your mouth, and your nose and your lungs as do pollutants….hum the tune daily.

    Wear Your Seat Belt

Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.

    Floss Your Teeth

Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body's boss.

    Avoid Excessive Drinking (Avoid Drinks)

While recent studies show a glass of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer. Thought for the day: A jug of wine should last a long time.

    Keep a Positive Mental Outlook

There's a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life. Thought for the day: You can't be unhappy when you're smiling or singing.

    Choose Your Parents Well

The link between genetics and health is a powerful one. But just because one or both of your parents died young in ill health doesn't mean you cannot counteract the genetic pool handed you. Thought for the day: Follow these basic tips for healthy living and you can better control your own destiny.

Cigarette Smoking and Cardiovascular DiseasesAHA Scientific Position

Cigarette smoking is the most important preventable cause of premature death in the United States. It accounts for nearly 440,000 of the more than 2.4 million annual deaths. Cigarette smokers have a higher risk of developing several chronic disorders. These include fatty buildups in arteries, several types of cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (lung problems). Atherosclerosis (buildup of fatty substances in the arteries) is a chief contributor to the high number of deaths from smoking. Many studies detail the evidence that cigarette smoking is a major cause of coronary heart disease, which leads to heart attack.

How does smoking affect coronary heart disease risk?

Cigarette and tobacco smoke, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, physical inactivity, obesity and diabetes are the six major independent risk factors for coronary heart disease that you can modify or control. Cigarette smoking is so widespread and significant as a risk factor that the Surgeon General has called it "the leading preventable cause of disease and deaths in the United States."
Cigarette smoking increases the risk of coronary heart disease by itself. When it acts with other factors, it greatly increases risk. Smoking increases blood pressure, decreases exercise tolerance and increases the tendency for blood to clot. Smoking also increases the risk of recurrent coronary heart disease after bypass surgery.
Cigarette smoking is the most important risk factor for young men and women. It produces a greater relative risk in persons under age 50 than in those over 50.
Women who smoke and use oral contraceptives greatly increase their risk of coronary heart disease and stroke compared with nonsmoking women who use oral contraceptives.
Smoking decreases HDL (good) cholesterol. Cigarette smoking combined with a family history of heart disease also seems to greatly increase the risk.

What about cigarette smoking and stroke and peripheral arterial disease?

Studies show that cigarette smoking is an important risk factor for stroke. Inhaling cigarette smoke produces several effects that damage the cerebrovascular system. Women who take oral contraceptives and smoke increase their risk of stroke many times. Smoking also creates a higher risk for peripheral arterial disease and aortic aneurysm.

What about cigar and pipe smoking?

People who smoke cigars or pipes seem to have a higher risk of death from coronary heart disease (and possibly stroke), but their risk isn't as great as that of cigarette smokers. This is probably because they're less likely to inhale the smoke. Currently there's very little scientific information on cigar and pipe smoking and cardiovascular disease, especially among young men, who represent the vast majority of cigar users. What about passive or secondhand smoke?
The link between seconhand smoke (also called environmental tobacco smoke) and disease is well known, and the connection to cardiovascular-related disability and death is also clear. About 37,000 to 40,000 people die from heart and blood vessel disease caused by other people's smoke each year. Of these, about 35,000 nonsmokers die from coronary heart disease, which includes heart attack.

    SONG OF A DREAM

    by: Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949)

NCE in the dream of a night I stood
Lone in the light of a magical wood,
        Soul-deep in visions that poppy-like sprang;
And spirits of Truth were the birds that sang,
And spirits of Love were the stars that glowed,
And spirits of Peace were the streams that flowed
In that magical wood in the land of sleep.

Lone in the light of that magical grove,
I felt the stars of the spirits of Love
Gather and gleam round my delicate youth,
        And I heard the song of the spirits of Truth;
To quench my longing I bent me low
By the streams of the spirits of Peace that flow
In that magical wood in the land of sleep.
